Abstract

This study intends to make a comparative research on the akin and common aspects of the proverbs that nomadic Kaşkays living in Şiraz estate in İran used and the proverbs used in Anatolia. Moreover, it will be beneficial for the Kaşkay Turks and the consideration of Kaşkay Turkish products in language and literary studies in Turkish World. Kaşkays who have a rich oral literature are the far east representatives of Oğuz Turkish Language in our time. Having sedentary life conditions, Kaşkays’ language and literary values, it is important that they should be collected in writtien forms not to be extinct. The fundamental of the study are the Kaşkay proverbs in Esadullah Merdani Rahimî’s Sözü –Darbu’l-meselha-yi Türki-i Kaşkaî. There are approaxiametly 5000 proverbs and idioms in this study formed at the end of Merdani’s great efforts. Since we consider idioms as the subject of another sudy, a comparative study of Kaşkay proverbs and the proverbs used in Anatolia are taken into consideration. However, the number of samples that will not force the limits of a presentation are considired. In this study, it is seen that there are enough akin and common aspects of the proverbs used in both fields in respect to their form and meaning, however, there are few proverbs that have different and conroversial meaning. The proverbs expressing Kaşkay’s lives and ideas are reflected in a candid style. They are not mightily different from that of the Anatolian proverbs in respect to their structure and establishment. They are in a quality of referring to all humanity in terms of their meaning.
