Turkish automotive sector is one of the most important sector in Turkey’s foreign trade. The main purpose of this paper is to examine competitive power of Turkish automotive sector for the period of 1995-2016. We used RCA, RSCA, RTA and TBI indexes to analyse competition degree of four subsector of this area, namely SITC 781, 782, 783 and 784. In the Widodo’s original paper, TBI and RSCA indexes were used for product mapping analyses. But RSCA is biased for many reasons. We used RTA index to product mapping instead of RSCA. Turkish policy makers and government want to create new “National Automotive Brand”. Our analyses can help this decision in the context of competition structure of this sector. Our main findings show that Turkish automotive sector have enough competitive power to develop this brand. But this process have so many parameter which are not the aim of this paper.
