In the novels of the National Struggle and The Republic Period, clergymen were always criticized. These statements that clergymen are the enemies of the National Struggle and they cooperate with the enemy for their personal interests have come to the forefront in these critics. In this study, it will be shown how much responsibility was taken by the clergymen during the National Struggle and how the criticism was not correct by taking Tarık Buğra's "Küçük Ağa" novel to the centre. In addition, the stages of the struggle of Küçük Ağa, firstly from the lectern then with the weapon, for the Turkish society and the newly established state will be discussed.
