Abstract

The aim of this study is to measure young’ information and approaches about death by making the comparison of some variables in the line of how much they think about death. This study will focus, on the one side, how much the varying death perception in West has an impact on the death perception of the community in Turkey that are being modernized, on the other side how much the death perception of ancient societies still prevails in society. Accordingly, it will be examined the changing direction of the death perception of young generation who are the most essential representatives of modern age, and assessed these by comparing with traditional perception of death. The research was carried out by applying a questionnaire to 116 undergraduate students studying in the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Sakarya University. The data obtained from the research were analysed using the SPSS program. In the study, 95% confidence interval for statistical analysis was analysed taking into account p = 05 significance level.
